A SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS
Trouble is always brewing somewhere in the world. Men want peace yet they fight each other and go to war sometimes even over petty things.
From Ukraine to the desert sands of the Middle East and Africa, pocket wars are being fought, threatening to escalate into much bigger conflicts.
Various flashpoints exist around the globe bringing tension and testing the limits of diplomacy.
Yet, here we are, though far from the conflict arenas on the world stage, are waging our own war against poverty and corruption.
Our society has been fighting this war as far back as we could remember, from the time of the Katipuneros to our present “Bagong Pilipinas” aspirations.
No matter who sits in the throne of power, our frustrations remain the same. Times are difficult, aggravated by the never-ending political bickerings.
But are we hopeless, resigned to our fate? Our voices drowned by the apparent lack of empathy from our leaders?
We have been protesting, crying out loud, howling in uproar but to no avail.
Would it take a nuclear holocaust to get people to awaken and act on things?
The drama unfolding in the world stage and our own predicament remind us of the closing acts in a tragic play. Are we headed to our final days?
While the recent elections could have given us some glimmer of hope, questions about its integrity and transparency bring us back to square one.
To a people wanting change and a shot at a better life, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Would it take a bloody revolution to get our act together? What would it take to keep us going forward to achieve our goals?
The signs of the end times are ominous. But as masters of our fate, we still have a chance to turn things around.
For the love of God, country and our children, we must act before it’s too late!
