Lot owners demand SP probe into Capitol’s P88-M Panglao land purchase

Bohol First District Board Member BenljieArcamo disclosed on Saturday that lot owners have formally requested the SangguniangPanlalawigan (SP) to investigate the provincial government’s purchase of a lot in Panglao, allegedly valued at P88 million, intended for a future convention center.

Arcamo said the lot owners, through their lawyer Paterno Valera, submitted a letter to the SP raising doubts about the transaction’s validity.

The lightning-fast purchase was sealed by Governor ArisAumentado and witnessed by JuninCaberte in a matter of 30 days.

One owner claims they never consented to the sale, while another is deceased, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the deal.

The owners are urging a thorough investigation, warning of potential legal action if the matter is not addressed.

“If no investigation is conducted, the affected party may pursue appropriate legal measures,” Arcamo said, citing allegations that the sale was invalid.

He expressed fears that the issue might be sidelined in the next SP session but vowed to ensure it is fully discussed.

The purchase has sparked debate amid questions over transparency and proper documentation, with anti-corruption advocates in Bohol demanding clarity on the ownership and approval process.

Independence Day Participation

In a separate development, Arcamo joined other officials at Bohol’s Independence Day celebrations on June 12, despite the absence of some top provincial leaders, who were represented by proxies.

Residing in Tagbilaran City, Arcamo noted that not all Bohol towns observed the national holiday, with some opting to skip festivities.

ASF Ordinance Update

Arcamo also bared a newly amended ordinance addressing African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak.

The revised measure continues to restrict pork and pork product imports into Bohol due to the ongoing threat of ASF, which could devastate the province’s swine industry.
