Bohol Water Utilities Inc. (BWUI) has found a way to provide water to its customers even during long power interruptions.
Despite the challenges posed by a 13-hour power outage, BWUI was able to energize some of its pumping stations using generators.
According to Victor Tambis of BWUI, the generators power the pumping stations, allowing water to be distributed to consumers.
The company has invested in 13 generator sets, which are distributed to various pumping stations to ensure continuous water supply.
Even without electricity, BWUI is able to distribute around 60% of its water supply, with 13 out of 30 pumping stations remaining in service.
The company prioritizes providing water to its customers, especially during emergencies.
In a related development, BWUI has been busy laying new pipes in some barangays in Tagbilaran City.
The company is replacing clogged pipes due to age and also replacing pipes in areas where road repairs are being done.
The pipe-laying project in barangay Cabawan is about 85% complete, with lines reaching barangays Tiptip and San Isidro.
