
The Municipality of Sikatuna and Sikatuna Rural Health Unit have once again made a mark in health promotion, receiving a Plaque of Recognition for Good Practices in Health Promotion for their “Smoke-free Sikatuna” initiative. Additionally, they were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedication to promoting health and wellness in their communitie. The awards were received during the 2025 Regional Health Promotion Summit held on June 17, 2025, in Mandaue City, Cebu. The recognition is a testament to the hard work of Municipal Health Officer Dr. Paz A. Maniwang, Mercy Cañete, RM, HEPO designate, and Melissa C. Ramonida, RN, NDP-Nurse II. The RHU team extends its deepest gratitude to Municipal Mayor Hon. Justiniana “Jec-jec” Ellorimo (inset, lower left corner) and the Sangguniang Bayan members for their unwavering support and commitment to health programs. Their leadership and dedication have been instrumental in promoting the well-being of the community. The “Smoke-free Sikatuna” initiative is a result of patience, persistence, and long-term commitment. The team remains committed to enforcing and raising awareness about the policy, which will continue to yield positive results in the years to come.
