The Municipality of Sikatuna has secured a Top 5 spot in the Good Practices in Health Promotion (GPHP) at the 2025 Regional Health Promotion Summit held on June 17, 2025, at BAI Hotel in Mandaue City, Cebu. The town was awarded a ₱50,000 cash prize and a plaque of recognition for its outstanding “Smoke-Free Sikatuna” initiative. The summit, themed “Empowering Communities for a Healthier Tomorrow,” recognized innovative and effective health promotion strategies by local government units. The GPHP Awards highlighted programs that addressed key public health challenges through sustainable, community-led solutions. Sikatuna’s anti-smoking campaign reflects its proactive stance on preventive health and commitment to fostering a healthy environment for all residents. This recognition aligns with Bohol’s collective health goals under the Strategic Change Agenda of the Aumentado administration and reinforces the province’s identity as the first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island in the Philippines.
