TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—As part of its ongoing refund initiative, Bohol Light has already disbursed more than ₱2.18 million in bill deposit refunds to qualified residential electricity consumers, underscoring its commitment to consumer welfare and regulatory compliance.

The program aligns with the Magna Carta for Residential Electricity Consumers (Energy Regulatory Commission Resolution No. 08, Series of 2008), which mandates distribution utilities to return bill deposits to consumers who have demonstrated a good payment track record over three years.

“We are taking meaningful steps to ensure our consumers get what is rightfully theirs. This is part of our promise to be a service-oriented company that values fairness and transparency,” said Roel Z. Castro, President of Bohol Light.

To date, the utility has refunded a total of ₱2,183,476.98 across 432 accounts, through a structured, batch-wise process designed for efficiency and accessibility.

The first batch of mass refunds was held on January 27, 2025, at the Metro Center Hotel, benefitting 335 consumers. A second batch followed on March 10, 2025, at Bohol Light’s main office, reaching 354 consumers.

In addition to these large-scale distributions, refunds have also been issued to 34 “applied” accounts and 2 “termination” accounts, reflecting Bohol Light’s commitment to ensure all eligible consumers receive what they are due.

Bohol Light confirmed that they are continuously identifying qualified consumers and will inform them about the next batch of releases, reinforcing the company’s dedication to inclusivity and consumer empowerment.

Castro added, “This is not a one-time effort, but a continuous process to uphold their rights and trust.”
