Residents of Tagbilaran City will see a slight increase in their electricity bills this month as Bohol Light announced a adjustment in its residential power rate for the July 2025 billing cycle.
In a statement released to the public, Bohol Light confirmed that the new residential electricity rate stands at P10.78 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), reflecting a P0.46/kWh increase from last month’s rate of P10.32/kWh.
The company attributed the hike primarily to higher generation and transmission costs, citing factors beyond the utility’s direct control. These components are influenced by the broader energy market, including fuel prices, power supply availability, and charges from the transmission provider.
“We understand that any increase—no matter how modest—can impact household budgets,” the statement read. “That’s why we remain committed to transparency and supporting our customers through open communication and practical energy advice.”
Bohol Light assured consumers that it continues to explore efficiency measures and operational improvements to mitigate long-term cost pressures.
In the meantime, the company encourages customers to adopt energy-saving practices at home to manage electricity usage better and minimize the impact on monthly bills.
Industry observers note that price adjustments are part of the regular monthly fluctuation in power rates due to the pass-through nature of generation and transmission charges under the current energy regulatory framework.
Despite the increase, BLCI reaffirmed its commitment to reliable service and consumer welfare. “We thank our customers for their continued trust and understanding,” the company added.
