“Boosting Healthcare in Antequera: Super Health Center Officially Turned Over!” The Department of Health (DOH) officially turned over the Super Health Center of Antequera, Bohol, to the Local Government Unit (LGU) on July 23, 2025. Representing the DOH was Dr. Van Phillip Baton (3rd from right), RN, MDM, CESE, who challenged the LGU to allocate a budget for the operationalization of the Super Health Center. Rising to the challenge, Local Chief Executive Hon. Jose Mario Pahang (3rd from left) accepted the responsibility with full commitment, backed by the support of Congressman Baba Yap. The turnover ceremony highlights the importance of genuine and sustained cooperation in delivering effective healthcare services to the community.
104 BNS and BHWs Attend Refresher Course on Child Growth Standards. A total of 104 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from the 15 barangays of Batuan attended a successful whole-day Refresher Course on Child Growth Standards at the Batuan Gymnasium on July 10, 2025. Batuan Vice Mayor Antonino Jumawid (inset, upper left corner) congratulated the participants on their achievement. The training aimed to strengthen the participants’ knowledge on proper weighing and measuring of children under five years old, accurate interpretation of growth charts using WHO Child Growth Standards, prevention of misclassification of SAM and MAM cases, and preparation for the upcoming Operation Timbang Plus 2025. The training was conducted in response to recent discoveries of incorrect entries in malnutrition cases due to inaccurate anthropometric measurements. The local government expressed gratitude to the BNS and BHWs for their dedication as frontline nutrition champions.
The event was made possible through the support of the Provincial Nutrition Office, Municipal Nutrition Council, barangay captains, and the LGU Batuan. The local government continues to work towards a Zero Stunting, Zero Wasted Batuan.
