KFC stresses importance of farmers on IFD

Youth group Kabataan for Change (KFC) stressed the importance of farmers as the world celebrated International Farmers’ Day (IFD) on Aug. 6, 2025.

The group emphasized the critical role of farmers in stewarding the land that helps produce food and ensure food security.

The group recognized and honored the farmers, and the group has been seeing the effort and sacrifice of farmers, especially since they are part of the sector that doesn’t get much support.

They said farmers are the source of stability in the community and they need to be recognized every day, not just annually.

August 6 is the day that the world celebrates the contributions of farmers and agriculture so that we can secure sufficient food on our tables.

KFC said the farmers are the pillars of food security as the group points out their incredible contributions.

Recently, the provincial government has come up with a program targeting the youth in an effort to modernize.

The program seeks to address the problem of an aging farming population where the average farmer is around 59 to 60 years old.

In their Friday broadcast, the group pointed out the importance of youth who are socially aware.

This will enable them to become better and more responsive citizens.

They said it is important to nurture the next leaders in the community and it starts with being socially aware.
