Tagbilaran job fair opens Opportunities here and abroad
The City Government of Tagbilaran, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Censoria Cajes Yap and Vice Mayor Adam Jala, successfully conducted the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) – Local and Overseas Job Fair on August 16, 2025, at the Covered Court of Barangay Poblacion I, Tagbilaran City.
The career expo was spearheaded by the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Mark Borja, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Out of the 206 registered applicants, 9 were successfully hired on the spot and 61 were considered near-hires.
According to Borja, the turnout highlights the continuing demand for employment opportunities in both local and overseas markets.
The City PESO actively sourced job vacancies from 18 participating employers.
Local employers included Allied Care Experts Medical Center–Bohol, Alturas Group of Companies, Amira Land Development Corporation, Amorita Resort, Bohol Primeland Corporation, Bohol Quality Corporation, Des Strong Motors, Inc., Du Ek Sam, Inc., Jollibee Foods Corporation Franchise–Bohol, LABB Construction Development, Inc., Multi Access Cooperative, Reyna’s The Haven & Gardens, Sagility Philippines, and Fortune Group of Companies.
Meanwhile, overseas opportunities were offered by Golden Gateway International Manpower Services, Inc., Jebsen PTC Maritime, Inc., Non-stop Overseas Employment Corporation, and Triple One Human Manpower Resources Corporation.
Mayor Jane Yap emphasized that this initiative reflects the city government’s dedication to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for Tagbilaranons.
“Through this Job Fair, we are bringing employment and livelihood opportunities closer to our people. This is part of our commitment to ensure that no Tagbilaranon is left behind in the pursuit of a better future,” Mayor Yap said.
The City Government of Tagbilaran assured that regular job fairs and more livelihood initiatives will be held, reflecting its strong partnership with national agencies and the private sector in empowering the local workforce.

City Government launches Linggo ng Kabataan 2025
The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Tagbilaran City Youth Development Council (CYDC), officially launched Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 on August 17, 2025 at the City Hall Atrium.
This activity marks the city-wide send-off of youth-centered activities to be implemented across barangays.
This is also in line with the celebration of the United Nations International Youth Month.
With the theme “Local SDGs and Beyond,” this year’s launch stood out as it was entirely spearheaded and facilitated by the CYDC, composed of youth organizations across Tagbilaran.
From planning to execution, the event highlighted youth leadership and participation in action.
The program began with a vibrant parade led by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Barangay Councils and CYDC members.
It was graced by City Councilors Hon. Jose Floro Ringca, Hon. Christian Merick Blanco, City Chief of Staff Cathelyn Torremocha, City Youth Development Officer Marbert Remolador, and guest of honor First District Congressman John Geesnell “Baba” Yap II, who was once a youth leader himself.
During the launch, each SK council presented its line-up of activities for the coming days, ranging from sports and cultural events to programs aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The highlight this year centered on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, with a focus on raising awareness on HIV and AIDS.
Robin Culpa of the Tagbilaran City Primary Health Care Facility, delivered the keynote address, shedding light on the realities of HIV and AIDS in Tagbilaran City.
He noted that many confirmed cases are among the youth, underscoring the importance of prevention, education, and proactive health initiatives within barangay-level programs.
The day’s activities culminated in the formal declaration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 by SK Federation Vice President Hon. Mafe Noreen Climaco, signaling the official start of the week-long celebration across Tagbilaran.
City Mayor Jane Yap commended the SK councils and the CYDC for taking the lead in shaping meaningful programs that reflect both the aspirations of the youth and the city’s development goals.
“You are not just the leaders of tomorrow—you are the leaders today. Your passion, creativity, and energy fuel our city’s progress. Through Linggo ng Kabataan, we see how powerful youth participation can be in driving change, building healthier communities, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The City Government will always be your partner and supporter in every step you take toward a brighter future for Tagbilaran,” the Mayor said.
As mandated under Republic Act No. 10742 or the SK Reform Act of 2015, Linggo ng Kabataan is celebrated annually by cities, municipalities, and barangays.
The CYDC emphasized that the true essence of the event lies at the barangay level, ensuring that programs reach young people directly in their own communities.
