COMING SOON
“The Long Walk”
at Screenville Cinemas
A dystopian thriller based on the 1979 novel of the same title by master storyteller Stephen King, “The Long Walk” will premiere on Wednesday, September 10, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
In the aftermath of a great war, America is ruled by a totalitarian regime. The military wants to boost up the morale of the entire nation by conducting an annual walking contest. The winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life.
One hundred young boys are selected to compete. All they have to do is just maintain a steady walking pace of four miles per hour without stopping. They must keep moving, otherwise they risk getting a warning if they stop. After three warnings, the military tailing on the road will execute them on the spot.
The boys continue to walk in front of live cameras for all the citizens to see. Again, they must not fall below the required speed. That means no stopping to eat and sleep. The contest ends when only one of them remains. But the military’s enigmatic enforcer (Mark Hamill) said, ”There is no finish line.”

“THE LONG WALK” will premiere on Wednesday, September 10, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
“STRANDS OF LOVE” 2
Alturas, UB to launch hair sharing drive anew
With the success of the hair donation campaign last year where more than a hundred donors shared their hairs to cancer victims experiencing hair loss, Alay Marcela Foundation of the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC) and the University of Bohol are joining hands again to conduct another hair donation drive this year, this time with the coordination of the SK Federation of Tagbilaran City.
Mrs. Mary Grace Celeste I. Bernaldez, Alay Marcela Foundation chair; and Dr. Lemuel O. Belarmino, CpE, CSASS, Dean of UB Student Personnel Services; both said “Strands of Love” will be conducted next month to encourage again the public to donate hair in order to create more customized natural wigs for people affected with medical hair loss, mostly cancer victims.
Any hair donors can visit the two designated hair-cutting venues at UB on October 3 (Friday), at 9 am, for the first donation drive; and at the Island City Mall Activity Center on October 11 (Saturday), at 9 am, for the second donation drive.
The “Strands of Love” last year was successfully initiated through the collaborative efforts of AGC and the University of Bohol. There were 108 donors who volunteered themselves to have their hair cut. It has been proven that custom-fitted wigs are effective in maintaining the dignity, confidence, and self-esteem of the cancer patients, and thus possess a positive outlook in their lives.

”STRANDS OF LOVE” 2. Dr. Lemuel O. Belarmino (2nd from right), Dean of UB Student Personnel Services; together with UB Student Asst., Manga SK Chair Catherine Zeta B.
