Boholano Swimmer to Represent PH at Asian Aquatics Championship (AAC) in India

Boholano Rian Marco Adiong-Tirol is set to compete in the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship (AAC) 2025 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, from September 28 to October 12, 2025. Tirol, a breast stroke specialist, holds two Philippine records in swimming, five records in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), two Palarong Pambansa records and one Batang Pinoy record. He is also a former team captain of the Ateneo Fast Swimming Team and University of Bohol Rockets Swimming Team. Presently, he is pursuing his masters degree in business administration at Ateneo de Manila University.


Tirol is part of the 10-member Philippine Team which includes elite swimmers Albert Jose Amaro II, Joshua Gabriel Ang, Raymund Vero Paloma, Miguel Barreto and Rafael Barreto, according to an official memorandum from Philippine Aquatics, Inc. The delegation will also feature divers Rose Ann Ocmer and Jana Mary Rodriguez, along with artistic swimmers Antonia Lucia Rafaele and Georgia Francesca Carmina Tan. Dick Victor Carmona will lead the delegation as head, supported by swimming coach Ramil Ilustre, diving coaches Xiaofeng Cui and Marie Antoinette Dimanche, and artistic swimming coach Maria Graciella Jasmina Sanchez.


The Asia Aquatics Championship 2025 is a quadrennial (held every 4 years) major aquatic continental event which will feature events in swimming, diving, and artistic swimming. The event is held under the governance of Asia Aquatics, the governing body for aquatic sports in the region. The championships are also sanctioned by World Aquatics, the sport’s global governing body formerly known as FINA. Times achieved at the meet will be entered into the World Aquatics database and swimmers can earn World Aquatics Points based on their performances and determine their world rankings. The competition falls within a key qualification window for future international competitions, including the 2026 World Championships and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, according to tournament documentation. The Asian Swimming Federation is recognized by World Aquatics, ensuring events are conducted under international technical rules.
