Saying adieu to Bishop Abet
Bishop Abet Uy, Archbishop-designate of Cebu
My day starts with his nuggets of gold at dyTR. And today, Thursday, September 18, 2025, the lines that he said left an imprint in my heart. He said: “The world is enough for all our needs, but is never enough for our greed.”
I may not have met the bishop up close and personal. The connection we have is his daily nuggets of gold at dyTR to start Ted Ayeng’s “Ibandilyo Mo”. The closest encounter we had was years ago – when we were in the same boat – Oceanjet. My bff Ardy and I, had a short r&r in Cebu for a day. He was in a seat far behind us and upon disembarking, he said: “Wala gyu’y kahumanan inyong istorya no?” He might have known my bff Ardy, she being a well known personality, but not me. But having been domesticated due to my mobility issues, the radio and television become my daily treat.
Naglagot ko karon sa reaction on the radio on the rules of the rally today. Kagahapon pa ko nga naglagot sa usa ka radio reactor. Ako ra gud pud. Ako ang motubag ni Ted Ayeng. Edsa in 1986 was dominated by rosaries and flowers and yet we were able to drive away the Malacañang occupants in 3 days.
Igo ra gud pud si Ted Ayeng nagpadayag sa reaction sa mga tawo nga wa moayoon sa rules on the White Rally. Bahala na gud ta ug asa ta gusto. Ako adto gyud ko sa rally initiated by the church.
White is a symbol of purity. The goal is to stop corruption kay na corrupt man pud ta in one way or another. Sometimes or more times, we give in to the demands of the corrupt for convenience with our transactions in government. They become what they are because we allow them. Di ba dli ta moboto kay maghuwat pa sa wilwig?
We have different ways of disgust, and I chose to join the prayer rally in white with the lighted candles as a symbol of hope.
Hellen Keller has written: So many things are wrought in prayer than this world ever dreams of.
Bishop Abet, this is not goodbye our because our mission continues!!!
