It appears there are no innocent players in the flood control projects’ scandal, although the level of participation of each individual personality mentioned in the hearings may be limited to a certain extent.
Be they messengers, delivery boys, garbage (basura) collectors, brokers, “proponents”, contractors and DPWH honchos, the whole affair has a level of sophistication typical of a well-entrenched syndicate.
It transcends political colors or affiliations and goes beyond administrations. What the whole fiasco epitomizes is a cabal of greedy men and women with insatiable appetites for material wealth.
With the suspected players’ vehement denials and carefully guarded confessions, it is clear that the intent to muddle the issue is not farfetched.
Yet despite this, one thing is certain. This has been going on for sometime that it has made its actors impervious to the possibility of being caught redhanded.
How else would you expect to get away with millions in “ghost projects” if you’re not confident at what you’re doing?
They have been toying with the system for so long that the feeling of invincibility has set in.
To do things with impunity of this scale and magnitude, takes a lot of guts. But who wouldn’t?
Knowing they have protectors from top to bottom gives these people confidence to continue with their misdeeds.
But the message from the very Top is clear.
Nothing lasts forever and pretty soon karma catches up with you.
There is a greater Good above all of us!
