The City Government of Tagbilaran personally turned over relief packs to the victims and survivors of the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Northern Cebu, on October 6, 2025, demonstrating the city’s enduring commitment to compassion and solidarity in times of crisis.
The relief goods, consisting of rice, bottled water, canned goods, coffee, and other ready-to-eat food items, were provided to help families affected by the calamity recover from its immediate impact.
The relief assistance was transported by a team composed of employees from the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the City General Services Office.
The 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran City, led by Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, convened a special session on October 1, 2025, to approve a resolution authorizing Mayor Jane Yap to provide immediate earthquake relief assistance to Bogo City.
Through this measure, Tagbilaran City donated ₱500,000 worth of essential relief goods, sourced from the City Government’s budget allocation for donations.
It may be recalled that immediately after the earthquake, Mayor Jane Yap, through the City Government of Tagbilaran and the CDRRMO, deployed a rescue contingent to Bogo City to assist in ongoing search, rescue, and retrieval operations.
The CDRRMO contingent was composed of four SRR personnel with one rescue pick-up vehicle, three medical responders with an ambulance, and one communicator equipped with a base radio and handheld radios.
Mayor Yap expressed gratitude to the rescue personnel and emphasized the city’s commitment to extending help beyond its borders. “Tagbilaran City does not only act in times of peace but more importantly in times of hardship,” Mayor Yap said.
She continued by saying: “Helping our neighboring LGU is a reminder that unity and compassion lie at the heart of public service.”
