“Black Phone 2” at Screenville Cinemas
One of Hollywood’s most bankable actors, Ethan Hawke, is back from the dead as a child killer in the sequel of 2022’s breakout horror hit, “Black Phone 2,” now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
In the first film, Hawke (“Training Day”) plays the most horrifying villain as a child kidnapper and serial killer, nicknamed The Grabber. He was killed by a young boy Finney (Mason Thames) whom he abducted. Fortunately, the boy finds some unexpected help with the black phone kept in his basement cell.
Four years after, Finney is now a teenager still trying to deal with the lingering trauma after his captivity. Meanwhile, his sister Gwen starts having terrifying visions of mutilated children and nightmares with a phone ringing. When Gwen’s visions draw them to a remote winter camp, the siblings uncover a dark family secret and face the vengeful spirit of the killer they thought was gone forever.
With more anguished souls seemingly in peril, Finney and Gwen seek to bury their demons once and for all.
“BLACK PHONE 2” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
COMING SOON
“Dracula: A Love Tale” at Screenville Cinemas
A gothic romantic fantasy thriller based on the famous 1897 novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoker, “Dracula: A Love Tale” will premiere on Wednesday, October 22, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
In the 15th century, Prince Vladimir (Caleb Landry Jones) denies God after the brutal and cruel loss of his wife, Elisabeta (Zoë Bleu Sidel). He inherits a curse — an eternal life — and becomes Dracula. Condemned to wander through the centuries, he has only one hope left — to find his lost love.
Centuries later, in 19th-century Paris, he encounters a woman Mina (also played by Zoë Bleu Sidel) who resembles his late wife and becomes obsessed with her, setting his fate in motion.
“Dracula: A Love Tale” is a new take on the classic vampire legend — about a 15th-century prince cursed to immortality after losing his wife — and dedicates centuries to finding her reincarnation in 19th-century London. This “love tale” explores the profound tragedy and obsession at the core of Dracula’s existence.
“DRACULA: A LOVE TALE” will premiere on Wednesday, October 22, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
ALTURAS, UB HAIR DONATION DRIVE
106 donors share hairs
In the “Strands of Love” hair donation drive conducted for the second time this year by the University of Bohol and Alturas Group of Companies last October 3 and 11, respectively held at UB MIC and ICM Activity Center, there were a total of 106 donors who volunteered themselves to have their hair cut.
Just like last year where more than 100 donors also donated their hairs, this year’s hair donation campaign was very successful with the collaborative efforts of AGC and UB, in cooperation with the SK Federation of Tagbilaran City.
Dr. Lemuel O. Belarmino, CpE, CSASS, the Dean of UB Student Personnel Services, said “Strands of Love” hair donation campaign was conducted to encourage the public to donate hair to create more customized natural wigs for people affected with medical hair loss, mostly cancer victims.
It has been proven that custom-fitted wigs are effective in maintaining the dignity, confidence, and self-esteem of the cancer patients, and thus possess a positive outlook in their lives.
