Bohol Light marks first year under Primelectric with community-focused programs

Bohol Light celebrated its first anniversary under Primelectric Holdings on Friday, marking twelve months of operational reforms and community engagement under the banner “Una Sa Kahayag” (First in Light).

The power distribution firm, which joined the Primelectric Group in October 2024, has undertaken a series of customer service improvements and infrastructure upgrades since the transition, company officials said.

The anniversary comes as the utility marks several operational milestones, including the completion of office renovations in July that coincided with the 25th year of its Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registration.

Among the company’s first-year programs was the mass distribution of bill deposit refunds to customers in January, part of what management described as efforts to increase financial transparency.

The company also temporarily relocated operations during a months-long renovation period aimed at improving service delivery.

Bohol Light has expanded its community outreach through “Barangayan,” a grassroots program focused on electrical safety education and energy conservation, engaging directly with consumers on power management.

The company maintained uninterrupted service during the May national elections through its “Oplan Halalan” contingency operations, ensuring polling stations remained powered throughout the voting period.

Environmental and employee engagement programs have also featured in the company’s first year, including a coastal cleanup drive in September and “Magduwa 2025,” an internal sports festival that ran from mid to late September.

Industry observers note that Primelectric’s acquisition of distribution utilities forms part of a consolidation trend in the power sector, where larger operators are absorbing smaller franchises to improve service standards and operational efficiency.

The company has not disclosed financial performance figures or customer growth statistics for its first year under new management.
