Anne Margarette Amper, daughter of former Anda Mayor Metodio “Dodong” Amper, completed a Master’s Degree in Korean Studies on Oct. 21, 2025, at the Academy of Korean Studies at Sungkyunkwan University in Seongnam, South Korea.
Amper previously earned an undergraduate degree in international studies with a major in European studies from De La Salle University.
She also holds a global Master of Business Administration from Korea.
“I took international studies because I had plans to study abroad,” Amper said. “My undergraduate degree made me a jack of all trades as the degree covered politics and economics.”
Amper said she remains mindful of cultural differences among her classmates, who come from various countries and backgrounds.
She described Koreans as orderly, organized and disciplined, with a strong sense of justice and no sense of entitlement.
“People are disciplined to line up and wait for their turns, making things orderly and organized,” Amper said. “They are patient for their turn, which is something I admired about the Korean people.”
She noted that Koreans tend to be more relaxed when visiting places like Bohol, where they feel more comfortable.
Amper said there is increasing interest among Koreans to visit destinations such as Vietnam, which may explain declining Korean tourist numbers to Bohol and the Philippines.
She believes Koreans are leaning toward other Southeast Asian countries.
