A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE
The problem with our country is that our political leaders have lost touch with reality.
They are perched on their pedestals that their feet are not firmly planted on the ground. They cannot feel the earth upon which our people tred and suffer.
They live in their own world and have lost empathy.
Yet it’s about time we bring the harsh truth to them. They are not our MASTERS but are PUBLIC SERVANTS.
Not above nor less than us.Our respect they must earn and not be demanded. Otherwise they deserve our anger and indignation.
With what’s happening now, our blood boils at the sight of them in their luxury and comfort, oblivious to our plight.
We look at them with disgust and disdain, almost wanting to spit at their faces.
Rightly so, for our people bear the pain of the lives lost to floods and natural disasters, inadequate access to healthcare, lack of livelihood opportunities and others all because of corruption!
The culture of entitlement brought about by power and privilege is deplorable. Public servants should never be above anyone and everyone. They should be conscious of their mandate.
So let us stop treating them like VIPs. They are just about as ordinary as everyone else. They should never be above the people they are supposed to serve.
Let them take public transport, ride trains, buses and feel the public pulse to be grounded.
Our respect is earned not demanded. We owe them nothing!
