Bohol Light understands that as Christmas approaches, the use of Christmas lights becomes more prevalent.
More people will be using Christmas decorations that will be using electricity, said company spokesperson Sheryl Paga during her guest appearance on Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on November 12, 2025.
She said there is a need to responsibly use these kinds of decorations to avoid harm and danger.
Irresponsible use of electrical Christmas decorations may result in fires or electrical wires getting busted.
Consumers should only use certified and quality Christmas decorations and use only those with a safety mark from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Consumers should avoid complicated connections to a single outlet to prevent overloading.
Never turn on the Christmas lights when there is no one inside the home or when people are about to sleep.
Place the lights or decorations away from clothes, curtains, or any item that could easily catch fire or combustible materials.
Use weatherproof lights when placing decorations outdoors.
Meanwhile, Bohol Light reminds consumers about bill settlement each month to avoid disconnection and disruption of electrical service in homes, especially as Christmas time approaches.
Consumers need to be aware of their responsibility in keeping their accounts current by paying the bill promptly on or before the due date each month.
She also urged cooperation in the responsible and wise use of electricity to ensure a smooth delivery of service to consumers.
