The Provincial Government of Bohol has praised swimmer Miranda Renner, a resident of Panglao town, for capturing a silver medal and setting a new Philippine national record at the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
Renner, representing the Philippines, earned silver in the women’s 50-meter butterfly at the 33rd SEA Games with a time of 26.93 seconds, eclipsing her previous national record of 26.99 seconds from the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.
Singapore’s Quah Ting Wen won gold in a new Games record of 26.42 seconds, while Thailand’s Jenjira Srisa-Ard took bronze in 26.96 seconds.
Bohol government officials congratulated Renner, describing her achievement as a source of pride for the province and highlighting her new national record.
Renner, a Filipino-American with a Boholana mother, has competed internationally for the Philippines since 2015.
She swam collegiately for the University of California San Diego Tritons and graduated with a degree in microbiology.
She remains a prominent figure in Philippine swimming, frequently competing alongside teammates such as Kayla Sanchez and Xiandi Chua.
Renner also contributed to a silver medal in the women’s 4×100-meter medley relay.
