THE MASK OF ZORRO

Thought we only see it in the movies. At the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Hearings we find it funny how some resource persons resort to different antics to distance themselves from the flood control controversy and  proclaim their innocence.

The appearance of a DPWH Regional Director in full face cover with only his eyes showing, looking like some idiot in a scene out of a comedy movie speaks volumes.

Despite his name already mentioned in prominence, what was the guy hoping to achieve? To shield himself from the public eye by detaching his face to his name?

This puts him in an awkward position as a senator called him out for so doing when he was not even a suspect of wrongdoing.

Flight or coverup or hiding is a refuge of the guilty. But the way some people act often give themselves away.

While the Senate Probe is not intended to find guilt and pin blame, this is the job of the Ombudsman and the courts, resource persons who are fumbling and evasive in their answers only reinforce the people’s doubt that leads to more questions.

The public want straight answers and a satisfactory resolution of who the guilty parties might be from the least to the most guilty. How much longer do we have to endure this roundabout?

As promised then, before Christmas last year and after the New Year celebrations, big fishes will be put in jail.

Now, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and apart from the usual suspects, Revilla and Estrada, no other prominent personalities yet may find themselves in the cold confines of a jail cell.

Mabuhay and welcome to the colorful world of Philippine politics where what you get is not what you see and what you see is not what it seems!
