IBP-BOHOL HOSTS 6TH NATIONWIDE ROLLOUT ON CODE OF PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY (CPRA) AND UNIFIED LEGAL AID SERVICE (ULAS) RULES

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Bohol Chapter led by its President, Atty. John Jeric S. Lim, in partnership and supported by IBP Eastern Visayas led by its Governor, Atty. Patrick V. Santo, hosted the 6th Nationwide Rollout on Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA) and Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Rules. With a theme “Raising the Bar of Ethical Standards of the Legal Profession and Service to the Rule of Law and Access to Justice”, the Rollout was held at MetroCentre Hotel and Convention Center last Friday, February 20, 2026.

The Rollout was formally opened by a Welcome Remarks by the Governor for Eastern Visayas, Atty. Patrick V. Santo, followed by an Inspirational Message by no less than the National President and Chairman of the 27th Board of Governors, Atty. Allan G. Panolong. The Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honor was introduced by IBP-Bohol Chapter President, Atty. John Jeric S. Lim. Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals, Hon. Bautista Corpin, Jr., delivered his Keynote Speech centered on ethical lawyering. 

The CPRA discussion was opened by an Introduction by the National Director of the Commission of Bar Discipline, Atty. Avelino V. Sales, Jr. The Preamble, Lawyer’s Oath and Canon I (Independence) was discussed by Deputy Director Atty. Marcelino Rongo. Deputy Director and Xavier University College of Law Professor discussed Canon II (Propriety) while yours truly discussed Canon III (Fidelity). Deputy Director and former Governor for Eastern Mindanao, Atty. Peter Neil Trinidad, discussed Canon IV (Competence) and Canon V (Equality). Deputy Director and IBP-Makati City President, Atty. Ramon Jose Nolasco, discussed Canon VI (Accountability.

After the CPRA discussion, National Center for Legal Aid Director, Atty. Pitero Reig, and NCLA Deputy Director, Atty. Manuel Joseph Ibanez III, discussed the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) Rules enriching the participants how to be compliant with the First Compliance Period of ULAS.
