A SIMPLE LIFE, A HAPPY LIFE
By: Donald Sevilla
Our lives need not be complex and sophisticated for us to enjoy our little piece of paradise.
Men with an expanding list of needs and wants often end up with a lot of stress just to ” be in “.
We love beautiful cars, palatial homes and things to make us comfortable. We work hard to fatten our bank accounts and accumulate wealth only to realize that these are not enough to keep us happy.
When younger, we enjoy living in the fast lane. We love to be on top of the game and relish success measured by our material gain.
Growing up, society’s pressures can take its toll upon us. The drive to keep up and achieve success early often cause men to take shortcuts putting them in a moral quandary.
Thus we see men cave in to the temptations of corruption and shady deals to get themselves ahead of the pack.
Yet all the riches we have gathered through the years, is no guarantee for a lifelong bliss.
When men are so focused on temporal pleasures, they miss out on life’s real joys.
But as we grow older we love the peace and quiet.
There is no better substitute to a happy and purposeful life that we can enjoy.
The real secret to success is not how materially rich we are but finding peace and contentment in how we choose to live the rest of our days.
We can be wealthy and successful when we learn to appreciate the simple things life has to offer. When we are in good health and enjoy the company of people we love and care about, we can say we are okay.
It is only when we leave the rat-race of the city and untangle our complexities to enjoy the flowers and the birds and the bees that we are a step closer to finding true happiness in our little piece of paradise on earth.
