Bohol Light appeals for responsible electricity use amid rising costs

Bohol Light is urging its customers to be more responsible in using electricity, given the current rise in fuel prices to historic levels.

Elmer Gatab, pinch-hitting for Sheryl Paga in last Wednesday’s Newsmakers radio program, said consumers need to use power wisely at this time.

The rising fuel prices may impact electricity costs and be reflected in the monthly electricity bill as the global crisis continues in the Middle East.

Bohol Light is encouraging consumers to follow energy-saving tips at home, offices, and establishments to help reduce electrical consumption and other expenses.

The cost of electricity at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) is not fixed, as prices depend on supply and demand from consumers.

Consumers are encouraged to save on electricity and promptly settle their bills using online payment platforms or third-party collecting partners.

This way, consumers can save time and fares, and avoid falling in line at the Bohol Light offices, as payments can be settled anywhere and anytime using mobile phones or online banking.

Consumers can pay using GCash, Maya, FCB Pay, ML Wallet, and Palawan Pay, or via online banking with various banks.

Payments made via payment partners are immediately posted on the account within 24 hours or the next day after payment.

Settling bills using payment channels is safer and more convenient, and consumers are reminded to pay on time to avoid disconnection.

For more information, one may inquire via the Bohol Light Facebook page or visit their website.

Bohol Light is still awaiting the final billing from power generators and the WESM, basing the generation charge on WESM charges.

If there are increases in the generation charge, Bohol Light will inform the public, but currently, they cannot say if there will be an increase in the electricity bill.

Gatab urges people to pray for the war to end soon, be less greedy, and conserve resources.
