Tagbilaran mayor warns pharmacies over fake, unregistered rabies vaccines

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap has issued a stern warning to all pharmacies in Tagbilaran City following reports of fake and unregistered rabies vaccines circulating in the market.

Yap ordered all pharmacies to voluntarily cease possession or storage of any counterfeit or unregistered rabies vaccines found in their stockrooms or on their shelves.

The mayor said establishments need not wait for an official inspection. Instead, they are required to immediately surrender such vaccines to the City Health Office. Pharmacies may contact Dr. Jeia Pondoc for proper turnover procedures.

Yap warned that establishments caught in possession of such vaccines would face serious penalties, including immediate revocation of their business permits and permanent blacklisting in the city.

“I will use all available resources to identify and investigate those involved,” Yap said, vowing a thorough investigation to protect public health.

TAGBILARAN CITY FORMS CRISIS PANEL TO ADDRESS NATIONAL ENERGY EMERGENCY SITUATION

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap has created a local crisis management body to respond to the national government’s declaration of a state of energy emergency, ordering coordinated action across all city sectors to protect essential services and livelihoods.

Yap signed an executive order establishing the Tagbilaran City Crisis Management Committee following the issuance of Executive Order No. 110, which placed the country under a State of National Energy Emergency.

The panel will oversee conservation efforts and coordinate the city’s response to potential fuel and power disruptions.

The mayor called on private businesses, schools, and other organizations to partner with the local government, stressing the need for early and decisive collective action.

Yap described the energy crisis as a uniquely far-reaching threat, noting that nearly every aspect of daily life — transportation, food supply, and livelihoods — depends on fuel and power, making it more broadly disruptive than past emergencies such as the pandemic.

She said the city would prioritize assistance to vulnerable sectors, including fisherfolk, farmers, small and medium enterprises, and low-income wage earners, to cushion the economic impact.

Yap also urged residents to conserve electricity and use energy responsibly, saying the response required collective effort from all sectors.

City officials said the committee reflects a whole-of-city approach to the crisis and called on Tagbilaranons to respond with unity and discipline.

Duterte supporters launch Bohol alliance, mark ex-president’s 81st birthday

Supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte launched the Inday Sara Duterte Alliance-Bohol on Saturday while celebrating the former leader’s 81st birthday at Plaza Rizal.

Hundreds gathered for the event, with many wearing green shirts and posing with cutouts of Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte. Attendees came from Tagbilaran City and nearby towns.

A motorcade began at 4 p.m., with the formal program starting at 6 p.m. Boholano artists, including singer-songwriter Joseph Gara and the local band Garaon, performed.

Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan, spokesperson for ISDA-Bohol, said the launch aims to unite Duterte supporters in the province and strengthen grassroots support ahead of the 2028 elections, when the vice president is expected to run for president.

Dumaluan said Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga and Atty. Rowena Guanzon did not attend because they participated in Araw ng Dabaw with Vice President Duterte.

Organizers said the turnout demonstrated strong support for the Duterte bloc in Bohol as they prepare for the upcoming 2028 election.

Bohol Water Utilities, Inc. ensures efficient water supply service

Leizel Butawan of Bohol Water Utilities Inc. (BWUI) assured consumers that all water pumping stations are at 100% efficiency and in top operating condition.

BWUI is committed to bringing efficient service to consumers and assures that the water sources can deliver water to the tap.

The water flowing in the tap depends on the water pressure coming from the pumping units, she said.

BWUI has been monitoring the pumping units and ensuring their condition, and no problems will be encountered, resulting in water supply shortage.

Engr. Nilo Miculob, also of BWUI said that the company is focused on maintaining the pumping stations and constantly conducting preventive maintenance service (PMS) on pumping stations based on operating hours, including the tanks and reservoir owned by BWUI.

In March, the PMS was concluded on station 13 in Cogon, station 23 in Dao, and 30 in Tanday, Corella, Miculob said.

Stations 19 and 26 in Dampas, 31 and 22 in Corella, and 7 in Lindaville Phase 1 shell undergo PMS in April, Miculob said.

Miculob said the PMS includes inspection of parts of the submersible pump and submersible motor based on operational standard.

Using a camera, checks are made to find out the pumping station’s condition.

Riser pipes are inspected to see if they remain in top shape, and inspection of other parts of pumping units that may cause problems, Miculob explained.

BWUI uses PMS to ensure the water system runs smoothly, he said.

Bohol Light reminds consumers to prioritize safety during holidays

As people take holidays and may leave homes, Bohol Light reminds consumers to be safe.

Sheryl Paga said consumers need to ensure electrical connections are disconnected when unattended.

Unattended appliances plugged into the socket may lead to accidents, she said.

She also reminded people to secure their homes when no one is left to prevent burglars from entering homes.

As the dry season kicks in, the weather is too hot, and Paga warned against using overloaded outlets or octopus connections to prevent fires.

As commodity prices surge, Bohol Light urges people to conserve energy to avoid huge electric bills and use the savings for other needs, she said.

Bohol Light still accepts payments even during the holiday season via third-party collection partners.

Bohol Light consumers may settle bills via online banking or e-wallets.

Consumers can skip long lines and spending time queuing for payments, she explained.

For inquiries, consumers may call Bohol Light at 0920 960 2372 or 0939 911 5671 or 038 427 2372.

City health officer denies vaccine-selling allegations at Tagbilaran CHO

The city health officer has denied allegations that anti-rabies vaccines were being sold inside the City Health Office, the city administrator said Wednesday.

City Administrator Alvin Acuzar told media that City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc rejected the claim, which surfaced a day earlier when an unidentified man raised the allegation on the same radio program.

Acuzar said the man, a father of a patient who received rabies vaccination at the Tagbilaran City Animal Bite Center, had yet to coordinate with his office to allow a deeper investigation into the matter.

He said no CHO personnel had been found selling rabies vaccines inside the office, and that the unit had been following standard operating procedures in the handling and administration of vaccines.
