The Bohol I Electric Cooperative (BOHECO 1) posted the lowest residential electricity rate in Region VII and the Visayas for March 2026, with its effective, VAT-inclusive charge standing at P10.3027 per kilowatt-hour — a reduction of P0.8638 from the previous month and among the lowest recorded nationwide based on published data as of April 6, 2026.
BOHECO I General Manager Engr. Dino Nicolas T. Roxas attributed the favorable rate to disciplined management of the cooperative’s controllable cost components, noting that the bulk of electricity bills remains beyond the cooperative’s direct authority.
Most components of an electric bill are pass-through charges — generation and transmission costs set by power suppliers and regulated by the Energy Regulatory Commission — leaving cooperatives with limited room to influence the final rate.
Only specific portions, such as distribution, supply, and metering charges, are managed at the cooperative level and remain subject to regulatory approval.
Roxas said BOHECO I continues to focus on what it can manage, guided by principles of efficiency, transparency, and responsible stewardship.
The cooperative cautioned its member-consumer-owners that while March rates are favorable, electricity charges may rise in coming months due to fluctuations in power supply costs — a concern that has weighed heavily on Bohol households amid a broader fuel crisis driven by ongoing Middle East tensions affecting global energy markets.
BOHECO I serves as the primary electricity distributor across a large portion of Bohol province. It assured its consumers that it will continue to provide timely and transparent updates on rate movements while maintaining reliable service across its franchise area.
