Balilihan Mayor Trisha V. Chatto (inset, upper left corner) launched a free transportation service for Balilihan students traveling to Tagbilaran. The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Balilihan will provide free rides from Hanopol and Centro Balilihan to Tagbilaran using passenger vehicles owned by locals. Interested students can register and ask information from the local government unit regarding the schedule of trips. The free ride service is part of the LGU’s effort to support students and local transport operators, who are struggling with high fuel prices. The service is limited to students due to budget constraints, but the LGU aims to help as many as possible. (Contributed photo)

Balilihan Councilor Pureza Veloso-Chatto (extreme right) attended a Joint Local School Board and Federated Parent Teacher Association Meeting on April 6, 2026 that discussed LGU aid to students for school year 2026-2027, agreeing to provide PE uniforms to all learners. To address the fuel crisis’ impact on transport operators and students, the bodies prepared guidelines for a “libreng sakay” (free ride) program. The Federated Parent Teacher Association also planned a “binuwagan” activity in April. (Contributed photo)
