55,492 Bohol voter applicants for Nov. 2 barangay, SK elections

The Commission on Elections has recorded more than 55,000 voter registration applications in Bohol province ahead of the November 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Tagbilaran City Election Officer Atty. Rocco Lamanilao said the COMELEC closed its voter registration Monday, May 18, 2026, with no extension granted, capping a seven-month signup period that began Oct. 20, 2025.

A total of 55,492 applications were filed provincewide during the registration period.

Of that number, 27,609 are male and 27,883 are female applicants.

Broken down by voter category, 20,141 applied as first-time SK voters — those aged 15 to 17 — while 7,956 filed as new regular voters.

The 14,286 applications filed between April 21 and the May 18 closing date are set for deliberation before the Election Registration Board on June 1.

Two prior ERB hearings have already been completed.

Lamanilao said all applications will be forwarded to the COMELEC Central Office for the ERB proceedings.

The COMELEC has also released the official calendar for the BSKE 2026.

Filing of certificates of candidacy runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5, 2026.

A ban on premature campaigning takes effect Sept. 28 and lifts Oct. 21, when the official campaign period begins and runs through Oct. 31.

The election period spans Oct. 3 to Nov. 9. A liquor ban takes effect Nov. 1, the day before the vote.

The deadline for filing statements of contributions and expenditures is Dec. 2.

The BSKE will elect barangay officials — including punong barangay and barangay kagawad — as well as SK chairpersons and SK kagawad in each of the country’s roughly 42,000 barangays.

The elections were last held in October 2023 after years of postponements.

The SK is the government’s mandated youth legislative body, with membership open to Filipino citizens aged 15 to 24.
