The Sangguniang Panlungsod here has formally asked the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) to clarify procedures for destroying and burning seized illegal drugs, after a local crematorium declined to host the disposal process.

The request, contained in a resolution passed during a regular session on June 9, 2026 presided over by Acting Vice Mayor and Floorleader Jose Floro Ringca, came after St. Peter Chapels and Crematorium-Tagbilaran turned down the council’s request to use its facility.

Councilor Fausto “Bebot” Budlong, chairman of the SP Committee on Peace, Public Order and Safety and author of the resolution, said the council wants clarification on the process for destroying illegal drugs and controlled chemicals.

Aside from standard thermal destruction or incineration, Budlong said the council wants to know what alternative disposal methods are allowed under DDB Regulation No. 18, which permits other legal disposal methods with assistance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, particularly in areas without their own incineration facilities.

Budlong earlier said the council wants drug disposal conducted within Bohol to dispel public suspicion that confiscated drugs are being recycled. Currently, seized illegal drugs from Bohol are disposed of in Cebu City.
