Bohol province has rolled out an online platform linking tourists to accredited guides, tour operators and transport providers, part of a push to spread tourism income to more local businesses.
The LAAG Bohol Web App was launched July 23, 2026 at the National Museum of the Philippines-Bohol, bringing together verified tourism services on a single digital platform designed to help visitors plan trips and connect with operators across the province.
The app also functions as a digital gateway to the Bohol Island Geopark, aiming to steer tourists toward lesser-known sites and highlight the province’s geological features, biodiversity and cultural heritage.
It was developed by Bohol Island State University under a research grant from the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development.
Project leader Ivy Jane Asilo said the project began as an effort to improve tour guides’ language skills before expanding into a wider digital tourism platform.
Provincial Tourism Office head Joanne Pinat said the app would additionally support tourism policy-making and data analytics while promoting the province’s natural and cultural assets.
In a related development, Bohol’s provincial government is lobbying for a direct air route to Aklan province, home to the resort island of Boracay, as it looks to reverse a drop in visitor numbers recorded in the first half of 2026.
Gov. Aris Aumentado raised the proposed Bohol-Aklan route during a Provincial Tourism Council meeting on July 21, 2026 where officials discussed expanding air links and tapping new markets.
Tourist arrivals to Bohol from January to June fell short of the same period last year, with the decline deepening from March onward, according to provincial figures.
Officials said a direct flight would ease travel between the two provinces and strengthen tourism ties between the Central Visayas and Western Visayas regions, potentially allowing Boracay-bound travelers to extend their trips to Bohol and vice versa.
Aumentado, who chairs the tourism council, called on the Department of Tourism’s regional office to back efforts to boost air connectivity and grow Bohol’s tourism market.
