UB President Tirol Welcomes College Students on First Day of Classes

In his welcome message, Dr. Tirol reminded students that the first day of classes is not a destination but the beginning of a life-changing journey—one filled with opportunities for learning, discovery, personal growth, and transformation.

Addressing the gathering, the University President encouraged students, particularly first-year students, to embrace the uncertainty and possibilities that come with beginning a new academic chapter. He emphasized that seemingly ordinary moments today may eventually become some of the most significant and memorable experiences of their lives.

“As you embark on this important step in your academic journey, you are opening the door to new possibilities, discovering new horizons, and creating opportunities for personal growth and transformation,” Dr. Tirol stressed.

As the leader of Bohol’s first university, Dr. Tirol urged students to begin their academic journey with courage, openness, and a belief in what is possible. He reminded them that they do not need to have everything figured out before taking their first step.

“You do not need to know everything before you start, nor do you need to have all the answers. What matters is your willingness to take that first step,” he said.

Dr. Tirol further emphasized that education is not merely about reaching a destination—earning a degree, receiving a diploma, or achieving one’s dreams—but also about valuing the experiences and lessons gained along the way.

The University President also reaffirmed UB’s commitment to making every student’s academic journey meaningful, purposeful, and rewarding. He underscored the University’s continuing efforts to provide quality education, supportive learning facilities, and a vibrant campus environment where students can discover their potential, develop their talents and skills, and pursue the dreams and aspirations that will shape their future.

Tirol concluded his welcome remarks with an inspiring call to students to approach their university journey with determination and optimism: “Step forward with courage, dream with confidence, learn with purpose, and most importantly, embrace the adventure.”
