Alturas, UB to conduct hair sharing drive anew

The Alay Marcela Foundation (AMF) of the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC) and the University of Bohol are set to launch again the “Strands of Love” Hair Donation Campaign to encourage more donors this year to share their hairs to cancer victims experiencing hair loss.

Mrs. Mary Grace Celeste I. Bernaldez, AMF Chair, said hair donors can visit the first designated hair-cutting venue at the ICM Activity Center on Saturday, August 29, from 9 am to 3 pm; while the second venue is at the University of Bohol on October 2, according to Dr. Lemuel O. Belarmino, Dean of the UB Student Personnel Services.

Now on its third year, the “Strands of Love” was successfully first initiated in 2024, through the collaborative efforts of AGC and UB, where 108 donors volunteered themselves to have their hair cut. Last year, there were 106 donors who also did the same of donating their hair.

It has been proven that custom-fitted wigs are effective in maintaining the dignity, confidence, and self-esteem of the cancer patients, and thus possesses a positive outlook in their lives.
