QB Engineering named global finalist in Bentley Systems infrastructure awards for Loon church restoration

QB Engineering & Construction, a Bohol-based engineering firm, has been named one of three global finalists in the Structural Engineering category of the 2026 Bentley Systems Year in Infrastructure Awards for its work restoring the Our Lady of Light Parish Church in Loon, Bohol.

The firm’s entry, titled “Digitally Reconstructing a Historic Landmark: Our Lady of Light Parish Church in Loon, Bohol,” was selected from more than 300 submissions representing 53 countries.

Only 36 projects worldwide advanced to finalist status, with three chosen in each of 12 award categories.

QB Engineering is competing in the Structural Engineering category against Arcadis of the United States, recognized for AutoFW, a system automating the design of flood protection structures, and WIKA Gedung of Indonesia, recognized for its work on the Jakarta International Stadium’s retractable roof.

The Bentley Year in Infrastructure Awards is described as one of the infrastructure industry’s most prestigious global recognition programs, honoring organizations and projects that advance infrastructure design, construction and operations.

The Loon church was severely damaged in the 2013 Bohol earthquake. Its reconstruction combined heritage preservation, structural engineering, seismic resilience planning and digital modeling technology, according to QB Engineering.

The firm credited the project’s partners and stakeholders, including the Diocese of Tagbilaran, the National Museum of the Philippines, the Provincial Government of Bohol, the Local Government Unit of Loon, and the 401 Construction and Development Corporation, for making the restoration possible.

QB Engineering is led by Karlo Cirilo Bertumen Quiobe and is based in Corella, Bohol.
