Alturas, UB lead hair sharing drive

On the heels of promoting Pink Run 2026 for breast cancer awareness and raising funds for cancer patients, Alay Marcela Foundation of the Alturas Group of Companies (AGC) is also reaching out again this year to cancer victims experiencing hair loss.

A hair donation campaign, dubbed as “Strands of Love,” is scheduled again for the third time this year initiated through the collaborative efforts of AGC and the University of Bohol. It was officially launched yesterday, Saturday, August 29, with the first hair donation drive at the Island City Mall Activity Center.

Alay Marcela Foundation Chair, Mrs. Gai Bernaldez, and  Dr. Lemuel O. Belarmino, CpE, CSASS, the Dean of UB Student Personnel Services;  both said “Strands of Love” hair donation campaign encourages everyone to donate hair to create more customized natural wigs for people affected with medical hair loss, mostly cancer victims.

It has been proven that custom-fitted wigs are effective in maintaining the dignity, confidence, and self-esteem of the cancer patients, and thus possess a positive outlook in their lives.

Mrs. Bernaldez added that any hair donors can visit another designated hair-cutting venue at UB on October 2, 2026.

PINK RUN 2026 registration is still going on until tomorrow, August 31.
