BY GLORIA LEODIVICA INES ARANETA

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap was recognized as one of Bohol’s Top-Performing Mayors for the Second Quarter of 2026.

She earned a 92.45 percent rating in the Governance and Participation Index, or GPI, for the April–June 2026 period.

The recognition was given by Visayas Social Pulse and Transparency Good Governance & Accountability Advocates.

Mayor Yap was among the Top 1 Bohol mayors in the second-quarter assessment.

The GPI recognition highlighted Mayor Yap’s performance in governance and public participation.

It reflected the city government’s efforts in delivering programs and services and engaging the community in local governance.

In her response, Mayor Yap expressed gratitude to the people of Tagbilaran for their continued trust and support.

She emphasized that the recognition was not hers alone, but a reflection of the collective work of the city government and the community.

“This recognition is not mine alone, it belongs to all of us who continue to work together for a better Tagbilaran,” Yap said.

She also thanked Visayas Social Pulse and Transparency Good Governance & Accountability Advocates for the recognition.

She said it served as a source of inspiration as she began another work week.

“Another week, another opportunity to serve. Trabaho lang gihapon ta!” the mayor said.

The latest recognition added to Mayor Yap’s recent citations for leadership and public service.

Earlier in May 2026, Yap was also ranked among the top-performing city mayors in Central Visayas.

She placed third in the region in the latest Index of Governance, or IOG, survey conducted by the RPMD Foundation Inc., or RPMD.

Under RPMD’s nationwide “Boses ng Bayan” initiative, Mayor Yap received an overall 77.7 percent IOG rating.

The rating was composed of a 77.1 percent trust rating and a 78.4 percent performance rating, based on the survey results released at the time.

The two recognitions underscore the outstanding leadership and performance of Mayor Yap.

They also reflect the importance of public trust, participation, and effective governance in local government.
