Capt. Peejay M. Somoson (INF) PA, Civil-Military Officer of the 28th Infantry Battalion, 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, paid a courtesy call on University of Bohol (UB) President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol III at the President’s Office on September 7, 2026.
Capt. Somoson served as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the 8th Donning of Ranks and Recognition of first- to fourth-year students of the University of Bohol College of Criminal Justice (UBCCJ).
A proud UBCCJ alumnus, Capt. Somoson graduated from the college in 2016. During his student years, he served as Corps Commander of the UB ROTC Unit in 2013–2014 and Department Governor in 2014–2016. He was also a recipient of the Leadership and Character Award, and Service Award.
Prior to his call to active duty, Capt. Somoson served as the Security and Safety Officer of the University of Bohol from 2016 to 2019, contributing to the safety and security of the university community.
As the University prepares to hold its Grand Alumni Homecoming on July 9–10, 2027, the organizing committee has designated Capt. Somoson as the University’s liaison officer for its alumni who are members of the uniformed services in Mindanao. (Leo Armando B. Boncales)
UB College of Criminal Justice Dons Ranks to Students

As criminology students transition into their respective cadet hierarchy and embrace the traditions that mark their journey in the profession, the University of Bohol College of Criminal Justice (CCJ) conducted its 8th Donning of Ranks and Recognition for some 600 first- to fourth-year students on September 7, 2026, at the Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr. Sports Complex.
Led by CCJ Dean Dr. Shirley O. Molina, the faculty spearheaded the fitting ceremony, with Capt. Peejay M. Somoson (INF) PA as guest of honor and speaker.
During the ceremony, students from the different year levels, represented by the batches Odysseus, Nexus, Xerxes, and Vexillarius, were formally donned with their respective cadet ranks. The donning of ranks symbolizes their progression in the program and their readiness to assume greater responsibilities as future law enforcement professionals.
A notable highlight of the ceremony was the participation of Capt. Somoson, a 2016 graduate of the UB College of Criminal Justice. During his student years, he served as Corps Commander of the UB ROTC Unit and Department Governor. He was also a recipient of the Leadership and Service Award and Character Award.
Before entering active military service, Capt. Somoson served as Security and Safety Officer of the University of Bohol. He currently serves as Civil-Military Officer of the 28th Infantry Brigade, 10th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, based in Magpet, North Cotabato.
His journey from a CCJ student and campus leader to an active-duty Army officer provided the students with an inspiring example of leadership, discipline, and service—values that remain central to the formation of future criminologists and law enforcement professionals. (Leo Armando B. Boncales)
UB Conducts Fogging Operations to Combat Dengue
IN ACTION – Personnel from the University’s General Services Office (GSO), led by GSO Manager Dr. Francis T. Pamaran, conduct fogging operations across the campuses, classrooms, and other strategic areas within the university premises as part of efforts to help prevent the spread of dengue and protect students and personnel from the dengue virus.
In an effort to curb the spread of dengue across its campuses, the University of Bohol (UB) conducted fogging operations using a water-based mosquito repellent to eliminate adult mosquitoes and help reduce the population of Aedes aegypti, the primary mosquito vector that transmits the dengue virus.
The preventive measure forms part of the University’s continuing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, faculty, and employees amid the rising incidence of dengue in Bohol.
The province has recently declared a dengue outbreak, with cases reported across various communities and lives lost to the disease. The outbreak has affected Boholanos across different age groups, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and collective action in preventing dengue transmission.
Amid the threat of dengue, the University continues to encourage the UB community to observe proper sanitation, eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed, and remain vigilant for dengue symptoms. Regular fogging operations are also conducted, preferably during weekends, to avoid disrupting classes.
The school administration is also closely coordinating with the City Government of Tagbilaran for strengthened information campaigns and advocacy efforts on dengue prevention and control. (Leo Armando B. Boncales)
