Tagbilaran Joins International Coastal Cleanup 2026
The City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a citywide coastal cleanup on September 19, 2026, in observance of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day and National Cleanup Month, mobilizing city government offices and participating volunteers to help remove waste and protect the city’s coastal environment.
The cleanup was organized pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 470, Series of 2003, which declares the third Saturday of September as International Coastal Cleanup Day, and Presidential Proclamation No. 244, Series of 1993, declaring September as National Cleanup Month.
City government departments and offices participated in the activity, bringing materials such as empty sacks, brooms, tongs, and utility gloves for the collection of coastal waste.
The City Environmental Management Office coordinated the activity, including the assignment of cleanup areas, implementation of basic cleanup procedures, and recording of collected waste through trash data forms. Collected materials were turned over to the Solid Waste Management Office for proper collection and disposal.
The initiative highlighted the importance of coordinated environmental action and public participation in keeping Tagbilaran’s coastal areas clean and reducing waste that could reach the sea.
The City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap, continues to encourage environmental responsibility and community involvement in initiatives that promote cleaner surroundings and more resilient coastal communities.

Tagbilaran City provides free pet vaccination and microchipping
The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office (CAVO), provided veterinary services to pet owners through the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat” program on September 14, 2026.
The activity was conducted in partnership with the Bohol Agricultural Promotions Center (BAPC) of the Department of Agriculture Central Visayas and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV)-Bohol.
A total of 48 dogs and cats received anti-rabies vaccination.
The program also offered other veterinary services to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent rabies.
According to CAVO, pets were also registered, microchipped, and given veterinary check-ups.
Tagbilaran is among the few cities in the country where microchipping of pets is available.
Through microchipping, pet owners are given an additional means of identifying and keeping track of their animals.
Mayor Jane Yap said the city government remains committed to making basic veterinary services accessible to pet owners and promoting responsible pet ownership.
She encouraged residents to have their pets vaccinated, properly identified, and registered.
She noted that caring for animals also helps protect families and the community from preventable diseases such as rabies.
The activity was not limited to free vaccination but also aimed to promote responsible pet ownership through proper identification and registration, regular veterinary care, and rabies prevention.
The city government emphasized that proper pet care also contributes to the health and safety of families and the wider community through vaccination, registration, and timely veterinary care.

Tagbilaran City holds digital safety training for senior citizens
The City Government of Tagbilaran, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Tagbilaran ICT Council, will conduct a free one-day training titled “Digital Safety: Cyber Hygiene & Information Literacy” on September 23, 2026.
The training aims to equip senior citizens in Tagbilaran City with practical lessons on online safety and information literacy.
It is designed to help them protect themselves from on-line scams, cyber threats, and misinformation as digital platforms become part of daily life.
Participants will be taught basic internet safety practices, such as creating strong passwords, using social media more securely, and protecting personal information on-line.
The training will also cover safe mobile banking and how to identify online scams and false or misleading information.
According to the organizers, the activity will focus on practical skills that senior citizens can apply in their daily use of smartphones, social media, online transactions, and other digital services.
The training is open to all senior citizens, with no age limit.
Participants will receive complimentary snacks and lunch, as well as a Certificate of Participation.

This initiative reflects the city government’s continuing efforts to expand digital literacy beyond younger users and ensure that senior citizens can navigate online platforms safely and responsibly.
