Tagbilaran completes urban poor high-rise housing project

BY GLORIA LEODIVICA INES ARANETA

The City Government of Tagbilaran has completed its first high-rise tenement housing project for urban poor families.

The project was implemented under the Yap-Jala administration and has now reached 100 percent completion.

Mayor Jane Yap said this milestone marks a major step forward in the city government’s housing program.

She also emphasized that the project was completed without availing any institutional loan, in line with the city’s zero-loan policy for development projects.

The housing development is envisioned not just as a residential facility, but as a complete community with support facilities for its residents.

These include a covered activity center, a chapel, and a livelihood center, along with other facilities intended to address the daily needs of families.

With the structure now completed, the city government is preparing for the next steps leading to the use and turnover of the units to qualified beneficiaries.

Mayor Yap also announced that another housing program is being prepared in partnership with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Details of the new program are expected to be released soon.
