UB Ranks Among Region VII’s Top Universities
The University of Bohol (UB) ranked among the top five universities in Region VII in the latest EduRank list, placing fourth in Central Visayas and first in the province of Bohol.
The ranking places the following universities among the region’s top institutions, namely: 1. University of San Carlos, 2. Cebu Normal University, 3. University of San Jose-Recoletos, 4. University of Bohol, and 5. Southwestern University.
Region VII now comprises Cebu and Bohol following the establishment of the Negros Island Region. Consequently, universities in Negros Oriental and Siquijor are no longer included in the Region VII ranking.
Research, Partnerships, and Global Visibility
Dr. Leah Wilfreda Echavez-Pilongo, Dean of the Graduate School and the University Research Center, emphasized that higher education institutions establish their presence not only through research engagements but also through strategic partnerships, active community involvement, awards and recognitions, and expert contributions.
She further highlighted the importance of online visibility through institutional repositories and the effective dissemination of knowledge to expand the reach and impact of academic research.
Understanding the EduRank Ranking
EduRank is an independent, metric-based ranking platform that evaluates 14,131 universities across 183 countries based on academic research, non-academic prominence, and alumni impact. Its data-driven methodology analyzes more than 119 million scientific publications to rank institutions globally, regionally, and by specific research topics.
The platform places greater weight on research output, including the volume and quality of publications, and research impact, such as citations, scholarly influence, and academic reach. Other factors include non-academic prominence, academic reputation, and digital presence.
