For many families in Valencia, access to free and quality healthcare remains a challenge. But for two special occasions this year, help did not just come — it traveled thousands of miles to reach them.
The Birada Valencia team, in partnership with International Medical Relief (IMR), recently concluded its second medical and dental mission in Valencia held on September 7-10.
IMR is a US-based nonprofit organization founded in 2002. For more than two decades, its volunteer doctors, dentists, and health workers have been traveling across the globe, bringing free medical and dental care, health education, training, and disaster-response services to underserved and vulnerable communities.
Bohol, specifically Valencia, became one of its chosen destinations.
Their first mission was held last March. It was a quiet beginning, but one that left a lasting impact on the community. Moved by the warm welcome and the evident need for medical services, IMR promised to return.
And they did.
This September, IMR came back for its second mission, bringing with it not just medicines and equipment, but renewed hope. For four days, residents lined up — mothers with children in their arms, senior citizens, and young students — all seeking free check-ups, dental care, and health advice.
Beyond the free medicines and treatments, what the mission brought was dignity — the assurance that even in a small town like Valencia, no one is forgotten.
“We’re truly grateful for this meaningful partnership and the opportunity to serve our community alongside such a wonderful organization,” the Birada Valencia team shared.
