Mayor Jane Yap received the Education Hub Award on behalf of Tagbilaran City during The Manila Times Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities Awards 2026 held on September 24, 2026, at The Manila Hotel.
The award recognized Tagbilaran City’s commitment to making education accessible from early childhood to higher education.
Under Mayor Yap’s administration, the city has implemented programs supporting learners from day care and elementary to high school and college.
The Education Hub Award was among the 15 special citations given during the annual awards program.
The awards recognized local government units for outstanding programs in education, infrastructure, social services, tourism, technology, and sustainability.
The citation placed Tagbilaran among the local governments commended for advancing education.
For Mayor Yap, the award reflects the collective effort of the city government and the people of Tagbilaran.
“This recognition is for every Tagbilaranon,” Yap said.
She thanked The Manila Times, particularly CEO Anna Marie Ang-Thompson and President and COO Blanca Mercado, for the recognition.
The mayor said education will remain one of the key priorities of her administration, along with health and tourism.
For Tagbilaran City, the Education Hub Award serves as a national recognition of its continuing education initiatives and its drive to expand opportunities for the younger generation.
