Cabawan learners get free PE uniforms from city LGU

Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap led the distribution of free physical education (PE) uniforms to students of Cabawan Elementary School on September 28, 2026.

The activity was held as part of the city’s celebration of its 60th Charter Year and the 34th National Family Week.

The initiative aims to provide additional support to public school students while helping ease the financial burden on their parents and families.

Mayor Yap personally distributed the PE uniforms to the students, highlighting the City Government’s continued support for education and its efforts to respond to the needs of Tagbilaranon families.

The distribution is part of the city government’s broader education programs designed to help students meet their school requirements and enable parents to manage education-related expenses.

After the initial distribution at Cabawan Elementary School, students from other public elementary schools across Tagbilaran City are also expected to receive free PE uniforms in the coming days.

The program also complemented the celebration of National Family Week, which recognizes the important role of families in the development and well-being of children and communities.

Through programs such as the provision of free PE uniforms, the City Government seeks to bring education assistance closer to families and reinforce its commitment to supporting the city’s young learners.

Tagbilaran fetes BHWs at 2026 city summit

The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Tagbilaran City Primary Care Facility (TCPCF), gathered 208 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from the city’s 15 barangays for the Barangay Health Workers Summit 2026.

The summit was held on September 28, 2026, at JJ’s Seafood Village to recognize the BHWs’ contribution to bringing basic health services closer to communities.

The one-day activity served as a venue for recognition, capacity-building, fellowship and professional development.

It also reaffirmed the role of BHWs as frontline partners of the city’s health system.

City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc welcomed the participants and underscored the vital role of BHWs in delivering basic health services at the barangay level.

She noted that their regular presence in communities enables them to connect families with the health services and programs of the City Health Office.

The summit featured learning sessions on the roles and responsibilities of BHWs, the BHW Magna Carta, the accomplishments of the city’s BHW program, and the BHW ROCKS Development Program.

The city also recognized outstanding performance by awarding 34 Best Performing BHWs who demonstrated commitment and dedication in their respective communities.

BHW Federated Tagbilaran City President Hermeza Furnis addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of unity and sustained commitment among BHWs as they continue to serve residents in the barangays.

Mayor Jane Yap expressed appreciation for the BHWs’ continuing service and their contribution to ensuring that health programs and services reach families in the communities.

Mayor Yap also led the induction of the newly elected BHW Federation officers and the ceremonial distribution of BHW health kits.

Each kit contained essential monitoring equipment such as a blood pressure apparatus, stethoscope, forehead thermometer and pulse oximeter to support their community health work.

The 2026 summit concluded with a renewed commitment among the city’s BHWs to work together and continue delivering responsive and accessible health services closer to the people of Tagbilaran.

22 entrepreneurs finish Tagbilaran’s pioneering MSME Academy

The City Government of Tagbilaran, through the City Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (CEDIPO), produced 22 graduate entrepreneurs after successfully holding its first-ever MSME Academy.

The culmination program was held on September 28, 2026, at JJ’s Seafood Village, marking a milestone in the city’s efforts to strengthen local entrepreneurship.

The month-long academy equipped participating micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with practical knowledge, skills and confidence to sustain and grow their businesses.

It started with an intensive two-day learning program, followed by specialized training sessions.

A highlight of the culmination was the presentation of the participants’ outputs for the Business Enterprise Assessment.

The participants were guided by three panelists, five host enterprises and five business counselors from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), who provided technical insights, mentoring and support throughout the program.

CEDIPO Head Atty. Vincent Louie Raotraot led the office during the culmination activity, which also recognized the accomplishments of the participants.

Representing Mayor Jane Yap at the event was City Administrator Alvin Luis Acuzar, who conveyed the city government’s support for local entrepreneurs and its commitment to creating opportunities for MSME development.

With the completion of the first MSME Academy, the 22 participants transitioned from trainees to graduates, now equipped with additional tools and perspectives to manage their respective enterprises.

Through this initiative, the City Government of Tagbilaran reinforced its support for the local MSME sector by bringing together government agencies, business enterprises, experts and entrepreneurs in a collaborative learning environment aimed at building more capable and sustainable local businesses.
