Panglao LGU gathers members of LGBTQIAP

Some members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Questioning Intersex Asexual Pansexual (LGBTQIAP) community, also known as the LGBTQIAP group of Panglao, attend the organizational meeting coordinated and organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) focal person and his staff.

The meeting, held on Thursday Oct. 2, 2020 at the Panglao Cultural Center, was presided over by Dr. Arthur Bagcat, Head of GAD.

Panglao Mayor Leonila P. Montero, through the GAD Office, intends to strongly organize all the LGBTQIAP members of Panglao town to identify and assess what livelihood programs would best suit their collective skills and talents.

In a recent radio interview, Dr. Bagcat declared that his office is being allocated 5% worth of financial assistance from the total Municipal Annual Budget. The amount is roughly about P 10 million for the projects and activities lined up for GAD’s target beneficiaries.

The administration of Mayor Montero has been ever supportive to this sector, according to a report from the Municipality of Panglao’s media bureau.

Several members of LGBTQIAP have been successful in their fields. Some have become skillful choreographers, events organizers, expert Hair and make-up artists, welders, among others. They have honed themselves in their respective skills because of the series of training and seminar-workshops which Mayor Montero sponsored for them a few years ago
