With this pandemic, not only lives of people are in danger but also the supply of food that is largely dependent on agriculture. However, a family and its tenants have every reason to thank the Almighty for this hope of a continuous bountiful harvest as shown in the photo. Mrs. Alfreda Caderao of Tagbilaran City and her tenants have become beneficiaries to the provincial government’s Advanced Rice Technology (ART) program, a reason the harvest from the fields has become a blessing. The 7-hectare farm of the Caderao family is located at barangay La Libertad, Carmen, Bohol and is being taken care of by 3 tenants. Aside from rice, the farm also produces other kinds of crops. Lanie Caderao-Charles (right), one of the daughters of the farm owner, is shown doing her part in the preparation of the harvest for drying prior the milling process. Lanie used to work abroad but she decided to help “till” the farm while waiting for the pandemic to subside so she and her husband can visit the US again. At left, helping Lanie, is Jocelyn Tongco. Tongco is the wife of one of the tenants who also teaches at the La Libertad school aside from her role as farm caretaker.
