Tagb gives financial aid to market vendors
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II extends his gratitude to the efforts of Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go for facilitating the release of P3, 000 financial assistance to the each eligible market vendor in Tagbilaran City. The release of the financial assistance was done on Aug. 5, 2021, held at the Saulog Gymnasium, a City Media Bureau report says.
Aside from the financial assistance, the 500 beneficiaries also received face masks, face shields, vitamins, and meals.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Victor Neri, Samantha Dela Pena of the office of Sen. Go, DSWD Regional Director Rebecca Geamala, and other officials attended the benefit distribution.
It should be remembered that Sen. Go also extended financial assistance to 585 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in March 2021.
They were also treated to a free lunch and were given grocery packs, face shields and face masks.
Mayor Yap thanked the senator for his generosity.
“The assistance came at a better time with the pandemic still hanging in our midst. The people definitely need all the help they can get”, Yap said.
Moreover, Jamolod also raffled off bicycles, tablets, and shoes during that time, while City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Officer Cirena Sia also handed out the P3,000 cash assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation.
Mayor Yap leads the launch of the Tagbilaran City Business Service and Development Center
With the technical assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth and Equity (SURGE) Project, Tagbilaran City embarked on a new role in assisting the needs of the aspiring entrepreneurs in the city.
The Tagbilaran City Business Service and Development Center (TCBSDC) was unveiled in Aug. 18, 2021 with City Mayor John Geesnell Yap leading the virtual launch, a report from the City Media Bureau says.
The business center which is located at the Tourism Building beside the Central Public Market aims to do the following tasks; a) assist in the promotion and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the locality, and all other potential investors, particularly in securing licenses and permits, b) identify business or joint venture partners, raw materials suppliers and possible business sites, c) source out skilled manpower and service providers, d) facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns encountered by business entities; e) establish and maintain partnership with national government agencies and with the private sector, non-Governmental Organizations and Civil Society Organizations, academe and other stakeholders in the implementation of programs, projects and activities that will promote the business-friendliness and competitiveness of the local government unit; f) prepare and disseminate investments promotion collaterals and other information generally relevant to doing business.
Moreover the center will also provide information on available skills training, coaching, and mentoring programs for MSMEs.
Local Investment Promotions Officer Bebiano Inting will be the lead officer as assisted by Fiel Angeli Arao-arao Gabin for the Promotion and Development Section, Glenda Maniwang for the Investment Services Section, and Richelyn Maestrado handling the Administrative Section.
This program is also part of the USAID SURGE Project in promoting entrepreneurial development through the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative.
Mentoring women entrepreneurs concerning the negative impacts of Coronavirus disease (Covid) in their businesses is also one of the main thrusts of the center.
