The Tagbilaran City Health Office (CHO), through its midwives assigned in the different barangays, is still on the frontlines conducting regular health care to
women and children.

According to Hannafil Pacomios,  the midwife assigned in Brgy. Bool, the pandemic was not able to halt the maternal and child health program of the
CHO being implemented in all of the city’s 15 barangays.

Various services are still provided by the CHO such as prenatal care to pregnant women, postpartum visitation, distribution of maintenance medicines
to senior citizens via the Balay-to-Balay program, immunization, family planning program lectures, pre-marriage counseling, weighing of children and distribution of vitamins and deworming tablets, and development sessions on family planning.

Furthermore, the amount of effort exerted by the workers of the CHO did not go unnoticed as the Department of Health (DOH) Region 7 cited Tagbilaran City as one of the Top Performing Local Government Units (LGU) in terms of percentage of fully immunized children in 2021.

Pacomios, due to her diligence, was also given the regional Civil Service Commission (CSC) PAGASA Award in 2021. The PAGASA Award is the CSC’s Honor Awards Program (HAP) aiming to recognize outstanding government employees in Central Visayas.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II, City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, City Health Medical Technologist Emma Rumawas, and City Health Nurse Reina Torralba-Balay were also recognized by the CSC

LGU-Tagb conducts decontamination seminar at City Hall

To mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) infection, the City Government of Tagbilaran conducted a one-day orientation in decontamination,
according to a report from the City Media Bureau.

The training provided the City Hall personnel the capacity to conduct their own disinfection activities in their respective offices.

Offices which are engaged in frontline services are mandated to conduct disinfection every day, while the back-end offices are tasked to disinfect at least once a week.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap Ii said that adjusting to the new normal should be encouraged.

“We all should be mindful that COVID-19 [Coronavirus disease] is in our midst, thus, vigilance is a must. The minimum health protocol such as the washing
of hands, wearing of masks, and observing physical distancing should come naturally to us.

It also follows that maintaining a clean environment is necessary to lessen the occurrence of infections. This initiative from the CDRRMO [City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office] is indeed empowering and helpful during these very challenging times,” Mayor Yap said.

CDRRMO chief Gerard Lavadia tasked Research Head Marko Emmanuel Longjas and another employee Melvin Costan to conduct the training.

The following offices attended the training: City Engineering, City Accounting, City Treasurer, City Traffic, Senior Citizens’ Affairs, Barangay Affairs and Constituency Unit, City Administrator’s Office, City Assessor, City Mayor’s Office, Vice-Mayor’s Office, Sangguniang Panlungsod, Tagbilaran City Waterworks, City Economic Enterprises, City Tourism, Solid Waste and Management Office, Public Employment Services Office, City Budget, Human Resources and Management Office, General Services Office, City Veterinary, Local Civil Registry, and the Tagbilaran City College the report says.
