Bohol bagged the award as the best performing provincial anti-drug council (ADAC) in Central Visayas.
The award was given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on April 5, 2022 in Cebu City.
Bohol received the highest average score from 2017 to 2020 among Central Visayas provinces, according to reports.
Bohol is also ranked 22nd in the overall among all the provincial ADACs in the Philippines.
As this developed, Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos expressed that the award mirrors the various efforts of the present leadership under Gov. Arthur Yap in persevering to eradicate the illegal drugs trade and use in the province.
Relampagos pointed out that the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) endeavors to have a drug-free province by ensuring all anti-illegal drug programs are implemented.
Furthermore, Relampagos added that the directions of the provincial government are also aligned with the directions of the national government.
Based on the report provided by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bohol in December 2021, out of the 1,109 barangays in the province, a total of 410 barangays are already drug cleared.
The PDEA report revealed that 349 barangays were cleared in 2018, 44 barangays were deemed to be drug-free in 2019, and 17 barangays were are now free from illegal drug activities in 2021.
