The spokesman of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on new and emerging diseases Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez apologizes for giving inaccurate information to certain media outlets during a virtual presser.

He made the public apology during Thursday’s virtual presser.

Lopez said he is saying sorry for the inaccurate information relayed to some media outlets, not including the Bohol Tribune, about the contacts of the 17-year-old female patient who tested positive for a viral infection.

The patient was subjected to a rapid antibody test prior to her appendectomy at the Ramiro Community Hospital (RCH) on Monday, May 18.

In the virtual presser, Lopez clarified that the lady patient has no links with one of the medical technologists now isolated in Cebu. The medical technologist was tested positive of Covid.

Moreover, he said that as per contract tracing, it was found out that the lady patient’s brother has a friend who lives in a town located in the third district of Bohol. It is widely known that the town being referred to is Garcia Hernandez.

He refutes the information which he earlier relayed about the link between the patient and the medical technologist that tested positive for Covid.

In the presser, he said there is no truth that the patient’s brother is linked to the medical technologist.

The Bohol Tribune on Thursday, exposed the inaccurate information regarding the link between the patient and the medical technologist.

The patient’s family denied that they have links with the medical technologist.

Further, the family said they don’t even know the medical technologist.

It was mentioned that the brother of the patient’s girlfriend is not a medical technologist but someone who took up mass communication.

It was further learned by the Bohol Tribune from a source that the members of the family of the patient are very embarrassed, sad, and ashamed of the false accusations. The same source said that the mother of the patient could not help but cry and sob out of the false accusations against them as relayed by Dr. Lopez and as published in a newspaper (not the Bohol Tribune).
