San Miguel mayor Ian Gil Mendez said that he is focusing on health and livelihood for his constituents as an offshoot of the effects of the pandemic and typhoon Odette, for his first 100 days in office.
He said this to the media in an interaction on July 3, 2022.
“Duha ang akong main nga programa sa San Miguel, mao gyud ni ang e-push: health and livelihood, because of Odette and Covid [Coronavirus disease] mao gyud ang mga kulang sa among lungsod.” he told reporters.
He added that aside from improving the services of the local government unit (LGU)-operated infirmary, he will ensure that all indigent residents of the town will get free hospitalization and healthcare.
The mayor revealed that a help desk will be placed inside the infirmary, tasked to help indigent residents to process their documents so they can get healthcare services for free.
Mendez intends to tap women’s organizations in the town to implement various livelihood programs which will be funded by national government agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the provincial government.
The LGU will help in the marketing of the products from these organizations, he mentioned during the interaction.
